Why travel with us

Not a tour company.
A family of Ethiopian guides.

Mule Ethiopia Tour exists because a young mule-guide from Lalibela refused to accept that travellers had to choose between his country’s magic and a safe, fair, well-organised trip. Nothing has changed

Local Ethiopian Guides

Licensed guides born and raised where you travel, not freelancers flown in.

Deep Cultural Knowledge

Priests, elders and coffee ceremonies your itinerary simply can’t get elsewhere.

Fair Prices, No Middlemen

You book the operator, not an agency behind an agency. Full transparency in writing.

Custom-Made Itineraries

Tell us your pace, budget and dreams, we design the itinerary around them.

24/7 Local Support

A real Addis-based team on call before, during and long after your trip.

Sustainability & Community

We hire village scouts, buy from local lodges and protect every trail we walk.

Hand-picked journeys

Our travellers’ favourites, from one-day coffee tours in Addis to sleeping above the Erta Ale lava lake.

Word of mouth

Travellers Love Us

“The star of our trip was the Simien trek, impossible views, geladas everywhere, and our guide counted every step we couldn’t believe. Flawless logistics from the airport kiss to the farewell coffee.”

Sarah K.

United Kingdom · Simien Mountains Trek

“Sleeping above the lava lake of Ertale is the single most surreal thing I’ve ever done. Mule Ethiopia ran a military-grade operation, water, scouts, tents, safety first, but still feeling like an adventure.”

Marc & Elena

France · Danakil Depression Expedition

“Most operators just drop you off in villages. Mule’s guides actually belong here, the Hamer elders greeted them like family, and we got to witness a bull-jumping ceremony by invitation, not by ticket.”

Jonas R.

Germany · Omo Valley Cultural Tour

Ask a question

October to March is the classic "dry season" with clear skies, ideal for trekking in the Simien and Bale mountains and driving the northern circuit. April to June is golden for photographers (fewer crowds, fresher greens), while the Danakil Depression is comfortable November to February. We build itineraries around the season you choose.
